Elizabeth Berthe is an Associate Director in MicroSave’s Réseau Helix Domain. She is a digital financial services expert with over 15 years of experience gained through projects with international funding agencies, NGOs, mobile network operators, MFIs and other private sector companies across sub-Saharan Africa, Indonesia, Mexico, Colombia, Haiti and the Philippines. Her areas of expertise include project management, strategic planning, market insights, product design, and financial sector development. She specialises in strategy, business planning, product development and technical assistance design.
Examples of her recent works include:
  • Private Sector Landscape Assessment in Haiti, funded by USAID: analysed the private sector challenges and issues identified through research and interviews to determine tangible partnership opportunities, prioritize the key opportunities. (2016)
  • Risk and Fraud Management for Digital Financial Services in Burkina Faso, Mali and Madagascar, funded by Aga Khan Foundation: contributed to the development of the toolkit and on-site training in French. (2016)
  • Design of Linking Social and Financial Capital to Enhance Resilience of Agro-Pastorial Communities (LEAP) in Mali and Niger, funded by Mercy Corps: designed a program plan to educate agro-pastoralists to make informed decisions about household finances and managing risks. (2015)
  • Mobile Money Accelerator in Uganda, funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation: create products and services that were relevant to unbanked and under-banked Ugandans over the mobile phone. (2011-2012)
Before joining MicroSave, Elizabeth was a Senior Director of Financial and Social Innovations at Mercy Corps and the Director of Mobile Financial Services for Grameen Foundation where she undertook various roles from developing entry strategies to product development and technical assistance design. She holds a Masters in International Management with specialisation in international finance from the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management in the United States. She is fluent in English and French.
