Sakshi Chadha is a Specialist in MicroSave’s Government and Social Impact practice. She is a development sector consultant with more than eight years’ experience gained through projects with international organizations, NGOs and corporates in India, United Kingdom, Nepal and Kenya. Her areas of interests include strategic business planning, development finance, structuring and financial modelling, market research, statistical analyses, risk management, concept testing, product development, monitoring and evaluation and policy analysis.
 
Some examples of her past work include:
 

  • Conducted evaluation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for Fertilizer for Niti Aayog in two pre-pilot districts in Andhra Pradesh and six pilot districts across India. Findings resulted in DBT-F relying solely on UIDAI database till Soil Health Card and land records are efficiently developed across all regions in India. (2017)
  • Designed first ever statistical and economic indicators to evaluate and monitor the performance of DBT Readiness across all states and UTs for DBT Mission with NCAER. Findings will feed into policy development to boost DBT implementation across India. (ongoing)
  • Supported Ncell Pvt. Ltd. for strategizing their Mobile Financial Services (MFS) project and pilot launch - Engaged as part of Mobile Money for the Poor (MM4P) project of UNCDF to enable the company to operationalize, pilot and launch mobile money services in Nepal by supporting Ncell in technology deployment, banking partnerships, product and process design, pricing, agent management, piloting test plan and launch of the mobile wallet.   • Estimated savings accrued to Ministry of Consumer Affairs, and Food & Public Distribution, India due to Fair Price Shop (FPS) automation initiative in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan (2016)
  • Assessment of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) scheme for Department of Financial Services, India - Conducted research to study pan-India output, outcome and implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. Findings captured in The Economic Times, Business Standard, The Hindu Business Line,  New Indian Express, Navbharat Times, NDTV, India Today, and presented to DFS, Ministry of Finance, India. (2016)
  • Digitising delivery of Earthquake Rehabilitation Payments in Nepal (EBT and DBT) for Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development-Nepal: Designed the processes involved in digital benefits transfer to pre-identified earthquake rehabilitation beneficiaries in Nepal. (2015)
  • Designed financial inclusion and payment system monitoring framework for Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB). (2015)
  • Estimated processing cost incurred by banks for transactions at agent network to be at least 2.63% of total transaction value captured. Findings captured in Business Standard, Economic Times and presented to DFS, India for policy implication. (2015)
  • Conducted process assessment of Airtel Money mobile wallet’s account opening process. Recommendations resulted in the reduction in wallet opening time from 15 days to 7 days. (2014)
  • Coordinated and Developed content for ISB’s Capacity Building Workshop on Social Impact Assessment for Diffusion organised by Indian School of Business (ISB). (2012)
 
Before joining MicroSave, she has worked for more than four years as a Consultant with KPMG Management Consulting Practice; as an Associate with Nomura Securities; and an Investment Analyst with Lehman Brothers Securitised Products team. She has worked on diverse projects that included assessing financial inclusion infrastructure, developing a growth strategy, risk management, securitised product modelling and conceptualizing scalable business models. Over the last few years, she has been working on digital financial services through a variety of channels such as mobile network operators, banks, merchant establishments, agent network managers and other stakeholders to enhance sustainable adoption of financial inclusion. 
 
She has accomplished her Financial Risk Manager certification, GARP and is also a Six Sigma Green belt. She completed her Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) with specialization in Strategy & Finance from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and Bachelors’ in Applied Physical Science from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
