About the role.
We are seeking a dynamic and impact-driven Manager – Health & Nutrition to lead business development and the delivery of high-impact consulting assignments across Africa. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong focus on health systems strengthening, nutrition, and digital health transformation, combined with excellent advisory and project leadership skills and a passion for driving sustainable public impact through innovation.
You will play a critical role in positioning MSC as a trusted partner to governments, donors, and development organizations by leading business development efforts, strengthening strategic partnerships, and executing complex projects that advance health and nutrition systems across the continent.
Key Responsibilities;
Business Development
Lead and support business development across Africa, including pipeline generation, opportunity tracking, and strategic partnerships.
Engage with donors, governments, and implementing partners to identify new opportunities and position MSC as a trusted advisory partner.
Lead the preparation of high-quality concept notes, technical proposals, financial proposals, and client presentations aligned to regional and donor priorities.
Contribute to pitch readiness, capture planning, and proposal review processes.
Project Management & Delivery
Lead the delivery of consulting and advisory assignments across Africa, ensuring technical rigor, on-time delivery, and measurable impact.
Oversee research, design, and implementation of health and nutrition programs, including digital transformation initiatives.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government counterparts, donors, and consortium partners.
Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks to track, assess, and communicate project outcomes.
Ensure compliance with MSC’s quality standards, project governance, and performance monitoring frameworks.
Leadership & Knowledge Generation
Develop regional insights, research papers, policy briefs, and knowledge products on digital health, health and nutrition systems strengthening, and innovation.
Represent MSC at conferences, workshops, and sectoral forums to build visibility and influence policy dialogue.
Contribute to internal knowledge systems and cross-capability collaboration within MSC’s global network.
Contribute to MSC’s internal systems including business development tracking, pipeline reporting, and resource planning.
Support operational excellence through client feedback loops, internal learning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to building a strong, collaborative practice culture.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
8–10 years of experience in consulting, advisory services, or program management within public health, nutrition, or development sectors in Africa.
Demonstrated experience in originating and leading business development opportunities.
Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Health Nutrition, Health Economics, Healthcare Management, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn complex challenges into actionable solutions.
Excellent communication and writing skills, particularly for donor and policy audiences.
Proven stakeholder engagement skills across governments, donors, civil society, and private-sector partners.
