Job Description

Opportunity to shape and scale a globally relevant climate resilience and insurance practice. Senior leadership role within a mission-driven, impact-focused organization. Engagement with leading global climate finance and resilience stakeholders.

This role will anchor MSC’s global work in:

Climate risk insurance and microinsurance, Parametric and index-based insurance, Disaster risk financing (DRF), Climate adaptation and resilience finance, Risk assessments and vulnerability analytics, Insurance innovation for low-income and vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Practice Development:

Lead MSC’s global Insurance and Resilience portfolio, Develop and implement a 3–5 year strategy to scale the practice across Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, Position MSC as a thought leader in climate risk insurance and disaster risk financing, Identify emerging global trends in climate adaptation, resilience financing, and insurance innovation and translate them into advisory offerings.

2. Business Development & Partnerships:

Lead proposal development and client acquisition in climate finance, insurance, and resilience domains, Build and manage relationships with Multilateral and bilateral donors, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Global climate funds and adaptation-focused financing mechanisms, Governments and regulators, Insurance companies, reinsurers, and risk pools, Financial institutions serving low-income and vulnerable segments. Design and lead large, multi-country technical assistance programs, Develop strategic partnerships with global reinsurance players, sovereign risk pools, and climate-finance intermediaries.

3. Technical Leadership & Advisory Delivery:

Provide senior oversight and technical guidance across engagements related to Inclusive insurance and micro insurance market development, Parametric and index-based insurance product design, Agricultural and climate risk insurance, Disaster risk financing strategies (sovereign and sub-sovereign), Climate risk assessments and resilience diagnostics, Financial resilience solutions for MSMEs, smallholder farmers, and vulnerable communities, Blended finance and climate adaptation financing structures, Integration of insurance within broader financial inclusion, livelihoods, and social protection ecosystems,Ensure high-quality delivery, strong analytical rigor, and measurable impact across engagements.

4. Client Advisory, Policy Engagement & Representation:

Advise governments and regulators on insurance regulation, climate risk frameworks, and disaster risk financing strategies, Support financial institutions in designing and operationalizing climate-resilient financial products, Contribute to global and regional policy dialogue on climate adaptation finance and resilience mechanisms, Represent MSC in international forums, conferences, and technical working groups.

5. Team Leadership & Capability Building:

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global team of consultants and technical specialists. Strengthen internal capabilities in climate risk analytics, insurance modeling, and resilience finance. Develop knowledge products, thought leadership pieces, and practitioner toolkits. Foster collaboration across MSC capability/sector teams and geographies.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Masters level degree (or higher) in Business/Economics/Sociology or related fields from a reputed institute
  • Other relevant professional qualifications in line with areas of specialization

  • Inclusive insurance ecosystems and market systems development;
  • Risk pooling, reinsurance, and sovereign risk transfer structures;
  • Climate adaptation and resilience financing frameworks;
  • Blended finance mechanisms;
  • Agricultural and climate risk modeling approaches;
  • Familiarity with insurance regulatory environments and disaster risk financing policy frameworks;
  • Strong analytical, structuring, and program design capabilities
