Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic professional to drive global business development in Agriculture and Food Systems at MicroSave Consulting, with a strong focus on identifying and shaping high-impact consulting opportunities across Asia and Africa. The role involves proactively scouting opportunities, developing concept notes, and leading end-to-end proposal development grounded in rigorous primary and secondary research. The incumbent will also contribute to on-ground project execution, including field research, stakeholder engagement, and multi-country assignments across diverse agricultural ecosystems. Working closely with cross-domain teams, the candidate will help design integrated solutions spanning agriculture, financial inclusion, gender, and livelihoods. In addition, the role requires leading work streams, ensuring high-quality client delivery, and mentoring junior team members in line with MSC’s frameworks and standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to build deep domain expertise while contributing to scalable, impact-driven interventions in agri-food systems globally.
Job Responsibilities-
Business Development
Identifying potential
consulting opportunities, understanding key areas of deliverables, writing
proposals, developing concept notes, pitch deck etc.
Build relationships with
existing and potential clients in the agriculture domain such as various directorates and departments of the central and state governments, other
state-level/central-level agencies, private sector players/ service providers
in the agriculture and food processing, fin tech, startups, and government think
tanks,
Take initiatives to develop
client relationships to develop a pipeline of projects in the agriculture
sector
Develop and submit
proposals to generate business for the domain
Represent MSC at
conferences etc.
Author /co-author of
thematic publications to be developed from field experiences (Focus
notes/briefing notes)
Actively engage in
marketing activities such as workshops, international events, and plenary
discussions.
Business Execution
Provide technical advisory and
project management support to the state government/ client
Participate in assignment
set-up and de-briefing meetings of assignments in the Agriculture domain,
Lead teams of 3 to 4
members in assignments under supervision, which will include field visits,
stakeholders’ interaction, regular engagement with the client
Lead and contribute to the
process of report writing and data analysis,
Execute assignments with the
utmost diligence, attention to detail and focus on quality,
Assist in the review of
training courses delivered, research papers prepared, curriculum developed and
technical assistance provided to clients of the P&D domain,
Assist in organizing state/national-level
events and workshops for MSC
Human Capital Development
Conduct “Quality of
Delivery”/feedback assessments with team members after assignment execution in
line with the quality control guidelines
Assist and support the development
of other staff by providing guidance and advice where appropriate
Take
ownership of self-development by acquiring skills and knowledge which add value
to the organization
Requirements
Qualifications
and Competencies:
Academic/
professional qualifications:
Masters level degree (or
higher) in Business/Economics or related fields from a reputed institute
Other relevant professional
qualifications in line with areas of specialization
Strong knowledge of agriculture
and allied sector and the socio-economic development issues
Experience:
At
least 15 years’ experience in agriculture and allied sector consulting or
research or other relevant areas
Experience in the
implementation of government/ related projects in the fields of agriculture,
understanding of policy and program assessment,
Experience in managing
relationships with various stakeholders including donor agencies, ministries, state
government, private sector players, and think-tanks in Bihar is preferred,
Experience in policy
design, implementation support, monitoring and evaluation of the government
initiatives is preferred,
Stakeholder Management,
client relationship management and key resources (such as Department of
Agriculture, Dept of Rural Development, NABARD, similar organizations etc.)
