Rajnish Kumar is a Senior Manager and Sector Lead at MSC’s Agriculture and Food Systems practice in India. He leads advisory engagements that strengthen agricultural and allied value chains, improve market integration for farmers, and expand access to financial and digital services for rural communities. He has more than 17 years of professional experience across agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries, livestock, inclusive insurance, digital financial services (DFS), organizational and digital transformation, project and program management, and software development. Rajnish has worked with governments, bilateral and multilateral agencies, financial institutions, AgriTech companies, and development organizations. His work spans India and several countries in Asia, the Pacific, and Africa, such as Fiji, Kiribati, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

Rajnish transforms agriculture and allied value chains through digital innovation, institutional strengthening, and enhanced risk management mechanisms. His expertise spans farmer–producer organizations (FPOs), agriculture value chain development, digital agriculture solutions, insurance and risk management, underwriting, product and channel development, digital financial services, policy and strategy development, and program management. Rajnish advises governments, donors, financial institutions, and private–sector actors on how to strengthen agricultural ecosystems, improve service delivery systems, and expand access to financial and digital services for smallholder farmers and rural enterprises. He designs scalable market systems interventions that enhance productivity, resilience, and income opportunities for rural communities. 

Before joining MSC, Rajnish served as a Technical Advisor for the Rural Insurance Services Programme at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. At GIZ, he developed agricultural insurance products and innovative risk management solutions. He also worked with ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company, FINO Payments Bank, and Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd in roles focused on agriculture insurance, financial inclusion, and technology-enabled business solutions. Rajnish holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), India, and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Cochin, India. He is a lifelong fellow of the Insurance Institute of India (III).
