Communities and Livelihoods (C&L) at MSC (Microsave Consulting) supports governments, development partners, financial institutions, enterprises, and community institutions to build and scale resilient local economies. It partners with underserved communities to expand access to finance, strengthen livelihoods, build market linkages, and improve the systems that drive inclusive growth.

Our work focuses on community finance, livelihood enhancement, ecosystem development, and integrated community development. Across emerging markets, we partner with public, private, and civil society actors to strengthen community-led institutions, design fit-for-purpose financial products, improve service delivery, and create sustainable income opportunities for low-income households, women, youth, smallholder farmers, microentrepreneurs, and informal workers.

We build our solutions on more than two decades of experience across financial inclusion, enterprise development, digital transformation, capacity-building, policy engagement, and last-mile implementation. Our services span market linkage development, skills and vocational training, enterprise finance, process re-engineering, product innovation, social protection access, digital public infrastructure, and institutional strengthening.

MSC serves a diverse set of clients and partners, including governments, development agencies, foundations, banks, microfinance institutions, community-based organizations, cooperatives, livelihood missions, regulators, investors, and private sector enterprises.

Our approach is practical, evidence-driven, and built for scale. We help communities turn access into agency, assets into income, and local institutions into platforms for sustainable development.

Our work spans four interconnected pillars

Ecosystem development

  • We support the development of robust local systems that drive sustainable growth.
  • Our interventions focus on strengthening policy frameworks, technology integration, and building institutional capacities to create an enabling environment for long-term development.

  • Our work spans agriculture, non-farm livelihoods, handicrafts, and microenterprises, with a strong focus on resilience and climate adaptation.

Integrated community development (ICD)

  • Our integrated approach combines financial inclusion, education, health, and social protection to enhance community well-being.
  • We work with communities to build capacity, foster collective action, and enable access to entitlements.
  • Through partnerships with governments, multilateral agencies, donors, and civil society, MSC delivers scalable, high-impact programs that are grounded in local realities.
