Mr. Mugwanga is a development economist with executive level managerial experience in both development and commercial banking. As the CEO of a new commercial financial institution founded by a Kenyan Church with participation from wealthy merchants, he had attempted to implement donor funded micro-finance services, which caused considerable stress to the up-market geared philosophy and systems of the institution. He left the job in 1993 to become a full time consultant on various aspects of microfinance services.
