Job Description

Join Us in Strengthening Agriculture and Food Systems Across Southeast Asia

We are seeking motivated professionals to contribute to transformative work in agriculture and allied sectors across Southeast Asia and the Pacific — including Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and beyond.

In this role, you will identify and pursue consulting opportunities, design innovative interventions, and contribute to the development of high-quality proposals and project deliverables. You will also support project execution through research, stakeholder consultations, and collaboration with cross-domain teams in financial inclusion, gender, health, and nutrition, ensuring impactful and sustainable outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Business Development

       Identifying potential consulting opportunities, understanding key areas of deliverables, writing proposals, developing concept notes, pitch decks, etc.

       Build relationships with existing and potential clients in the agriculture domain, such as various directorates and departments of the central and state governments, other state-level/central-level agencies, private sector players/ service providers in the agriculture and food processing, fintech, startups, and government think tanks.

       Take initiatives to develop client relationships to build a pipeline of projects in the agriculture sector

       Develop and submit proposals to generate business for the domain

       Represent MSC at conferences, etc.

       Author /co-author of thematic publications to be developed from field experiences (Focus notes/briefing notes)

       Actively engage in marketing activities such as workshops, international events, and plenary discussions

Business Execution

       Provide technical advisory and project management support to the state government/ client

       Participate in assignment set-up and de-briefing meetings of assignments in the agriculture domain,

       Lead teams of 3 to 4 members in assignments under supervision, which will include field visits, stakeholders’ interaction, and regular engagement with the client

       Lead and contribute to the process of report writing and data analysis,

       Execute assignments with the utmost diligence, attention to detail and focus on quality,

       Assist in the review of training courses delivered, research papers prepared, curriculum developed and technical assistance provided to clients of the P&D domain,

       Assist in organizing state/national-level events and workshops for MSC,

Human Capital Development

       Conduct “Quality of Delivery”/feedback assessments with team members after assignment execution in line with the quality control guidelines

       Assist and support the development of other staff by providing guidance and advice where appropriate

      Take ownership of self-development by acquiring skills and knowledge that add value to the organization



Requirements

Academic/ professional qualifications:

  • Master's level degree (or higher) in Agriculture/Agri-Business/Economics/Sociology or related fields from a reputed institute
  • Other relevant professional qualifications in line with areas of specialization
  •  Strong knowledge of the agriculture sector and the socio-economic development issues

Experience:
  • At least 10-15 years’ experience in agriculture and allied sector consulting, research, or other relevant areas
  • Experience in the implementation of government/ related projects in the fields of agriculture, understanding of policy and program assessment,
  • Experience in managing relationships with various stakeholders, including donor agencies, ministries, state government, private sector players, and think-tanks, is preferred.
  • Experience in policy design, implementation support, monitoring, and evaluation of the government initiatives is preferred.


Skills and competencies:
  •  Excellent analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative, and proven problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional report structuring and story boarding skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information in an insightful and structured manner, both written and oral
  • Passionate about agricultural transformation to achieve large-scale impact, ability to think and act strategically,
  • Ability to lead assignments and teams and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build client relationships and develop business opportunities
  • Strong attention to detail with good field orientation and proven interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel.
