About the role
The Climate Change & Sustainability Manager will lead and support high-impact research, technical assistance, and advisory projects across climate change, climate finance, renewable energy, and green economy initiatives in Africa. The role combines technical leadership and project management with business development, including proposal writing, concept development, and client engagement. The Manager will work closely with governments, donors, and private sector stakeholders to mobilize climate finance, deliver high-quality technical outputs, and advance sustainable, climate-resilient development across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage research, technical assistance, and consultancy projects in climate change, climate finance, renewable energy, and related sectors
Provide technical expertise across project design, implementation, and delivery, ensuring high-quality outputs.
Support business development through proposal writing, concept note development, and donor engagement.
Advise on climate investment and financing solutions, including blended finance, project finance, and green/sustainability bonds.
Develop high-quality reports, policy briefs, presentations, and technical publications.
Engage and manage relationships with governments, donors, financial institutions, and private sector partners.
Lead project teams, mentor junior staff, and ensure timely, high-standard delivery.
Requirements
A Bachelors degree or preferably Master’s degree in Climate Change, Environmental Studies, Economics, Finance, Development Studies, Sustainability, Energy, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 8 years of progressive professional experience leading research, technical assistance, or consultancy projects in climate change, climate finance, renewable energy, green economy, or related sectors.
Demonstrated experience leading research, technical assistance, or consultancy projects, including managing teams and delivering high-quality outputs.
Proven project management and business development experience.
Strong experience in writing reports, presentations, concept notes, and technical publications.
Sound technical understanding of climate change and green economy themes.
Experience supporting climate finance deployment in emerging and developing economies is an advantage.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Ability to lead teams and work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
