Emerging areas

At MSC, we continually evolve our work to meet the changing demands of inclusive development. Alongside our core sectors, we have been scaling up in key emerging areas critical for resilient and fair societies. These include MSME development, community and livelihoods, youth, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and skilling and jobs. These areas reflect MSC’s commitment to creating sustainable, resilient, and locally grounded impact.

What we do

MSME development

We engage with donors, investors, financial institutions, and enterprise support organizations and work to bridge the widening gaps that hold back MSMEs’ growth.

Community and livelihood

MSC works to reduce economic vulnerability, especially in rural and peri-urban areas. We build livelihood support across agriculture, handicrafts, and non-farm enterprises, with an emphasis on resilience and climate adaptation.

Youth

MSC works to make financial services accessible to youth in rural areas, youth engaged in informal employment, and young people from low- and moderate-income segments.

Skilling and jobs

We partner with governments, development agencies, and private sector actors to design inclusive skilling ecosystems, strengthen institutions, and shape future-ready policies and programs.

Water, sanitation, and hygiene

MSC’s advisory work in WASH includes sector assessments and policy reviews. We support the design of effective service delivery processes, develop tailored financial products, and embed gender mainstreaming in WASH services.
