Bhawani has more than 10 years of experience in biomedical, public health, and social sciences research. She is passionate about research and MEL methodologies to develop evidence-based and useful insights for program partners, donors, and governments. Over the course of her career, she has worked as an MEL lead for development projects across departments, such as health and nutrition, early childhood education, financial inclusion, and climate change. She has collaborated with international nonprofits, universities, academicians, research organizations, think tanks, multilateral organizations, and philanthropic partners. These programs often focus on driving large-scale system strengthening through collaboration with central and state governments. These programs also advocate for the needs of the most marginalized in the community. At MSC, she has worked on projects to improve financial inclusion among women and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) across 400 Aspirational Blocks in India. These projects have improved financial inclusion for the LMI segment,particularly women, in India. They have also scaled women banking agents in Nigeria, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. She has worked on a large-scale health system strengthening project to improve a comprehensive set of maternal and child health indicators in rural Bihar. She has also worked on a multi-state project to strengthen policy and service delivery for foundational learning and numeracy outcomes in India.
