Dr. Y.S.P. Thorat is a former chairman of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and a former Executive Director of RBI. He has been associated with the Planning Commission, Government of India, for the 10th and 11th five year plans. He has also served on the governing board of National Institute of Bank Management, Pune and was the chairman of the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange as well as the Indian Society of Agriculture Economics. His major contribution has been in the field of policy support for agriculture finance, supervision and export credit.
