SME lending methodology revision for KWFT in Kenya

MSC helped Kenya Women’s Microfinance Bank (KWFT) develop a strategy to improve the performance of the individual and SME businesses it managed. MSC’s support enhanced the outreach of KWFT. By the end of 2019, KWFT expects to reach over 100,000 individual and SMEs.

Establish a risk share facility that lent USD 33 million to MSMEs in Papua New Guinea

MSC led a four-year-long intervention with the Central Bank of Papua New Guinea to build a microfinance sector in the country. We helped set up a risk share facility (RSF) that helps manage risks associated with MSE lending. The intervention reduced the turnaround time of individual loans to MSMEs from two months to eight days, while the average loan disbursed increased by 95% to USD 5,500.

Microenterprises finance product design and implementation support to Urwego Opportunity Bank, Rwanda

MSC determined the financing needs of the MSME sector in Rwanda for Urwego Opportunity Bank. Our intervention reduced the turnaround time of individual loans to MSMEs from two months to eight days, while the average loan disbursed increased to USD 5,500.

Promotion of urban micro and small enterprises through technical assistance to NBFCs

Through the project, MSC provided technical assistance to non-bank financial institutions to promote urban micro and small enterprises in India. MSC advised five institutions and supported the pilot of a new product. The pilot scaled to a combined INR 1 billion (USD 15 million) portfolio within a year.

SME handbook development for DHL/IFC in Africa

MSC developed a customized training and handbook for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Africa. The training program for SMEs covered six broad areas. Over 1,000 entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa have used the handbook and the e-learning platform continues to find intensive use.

Landscape study on enterprise development in Fiji

The Reserve Bank of Fiji and MDF commissioned MSC to undertake an MSME landscape study in Fiji. MSC’s research was a first-of-its-kind study that focused on enterprise development and helped the clients to develop strategies and formulate policy interventions for MSME development.
