Markku Malkamaki currently works as Senior Social Protection Expert with Government of Finland's National Institute for Health and Welfare. He specialises in microfinance and development finance.

Markku while working with MSC contributed to firm's development by developing and testing Participatory Market research tools with peasants in rural Kenya anddeveloping savings products for the institutions serving the rural poor in Kenya. One of the clientswas Equity Building Society that during the process became Equity Bank.
