Martin Aketch

Martin is a Manager in the Agriculture and Food Systems (AFS) capability at MSC’s (MicroSave Consulting’s) Nairobi office in Africa.

He is a development finance and agricultural economics professional with over 11 years of experience working on projects for donors and development partners, which include the Gates Foundation, the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), the World Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), as well as government partners such as Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture. His work spans Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, and other markets across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. His expertise includes agrifood value chain development and business case analysis, with a focus on inclusive value chain segmentation tailored to underserved groups, including youth, persons with disabilities, and women. Martin also works extensively in digital AgTech, with particular emphasis on financing solutions that make AgTech business models viable for low-income farmers. His broader experience spans market systems development, digital public infrastructure, access to finance, and business development, including proposal writing and fundraising. Before joining MSC, he served as Project Manager at iShamba Limited, where he led donor-funded digital agriculture programs, including the USAID Women Connect Challenge. He holds a degree in Agricultural Economics and is currently pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) in Development Finance at KCA University.
